IDDA Chairwoman Nushaba Mammadova sent a letter of thanks to the members of the European Parliament

The Chairwoman of the International Dialogue and Development Alliance Nushaba Mammadova sent a letter of thanks to the members of the European Parliament – chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation to the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee Mrs. MARINA KALJURAND, European Parliament’s Standing Rapporteur on Azerbaijan Mrs. ZELJANA ZOVKO and European Parliament’s Standing Rapporteur on Armenia Mr. TRAIAN BASESCU. On June 10, 2020, the European Parliament (EP) adopted a Joint Statment which is great political importance in the process of peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The document, signed by European Parliament rapporteur on Azerbaijan Jelena Zavko, Armenia rapporteur on Armenia Traian Basescu and EP co-chair of the Parliamentary Cooperation Committee on Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia Maria Kalyurand, protests against the construction of a third highway connecting Armenia and Azerbaijan to the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region.

“Such official statements, which on the basis of international law, are important in terms of the inviolability of the internationally recognized borders of each state, as well as contributing to the peaceful settlement of long-standing conflicts in the region, as well as in the Eurasian” the letter said.

It is also noted that Armenia has been obstructing the process of resolving the conflict by refusing to comply with the requirements of UN resolutions for more than 25 years.

The letter expresses satisfaction with the development of cooperation based on fair and humane principles for peace in the region and in the world.
