With the support of the State Support Agency on Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan the side-event was held at the Geneva office of the UN.

Chair of the International Dialogue and Development Alliance, Nushaba Mammadova, opening the event with her opening speech, stated that “Azerbaijan, located at the junction of the West and the East and bordering Turkey, Iran, Georgia, Russia and Armenia, is of regional and international importance due to its tradition of accepting numerous ethnic and religious minorities.

Today, dozens of schools, cultural centers, theaters, associations and societies belonging to ethnic communities operate in Azerbaijan. Cultural centers include the Polish cultural center, the German cultural society, the Slavic Cultural Center of the Russian Community, as well as the cultural centers of various communities…”

A documentary on “South Caucasus: Cultural Diversity and Human Rights” was shown at the conference. At the event, the participants were presented with a booklet prepared within the framework of the project. Also, booklets and discs of the film were presented to the participants of other side-events held at the Geneva office of the UN.

At the event, Head of the US Research Center, Academic Researcher, Middle East Policy Expert FRANK MUSMAR, COJEP International Coordinator DUDU KELEŞ, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Comoros to the UN Branch in Geneva and other international organizations SULTAN CHOUZOUR, in the South Caucasus region, including cultural diversity in Azerbaijan, cultural heritage of Azerbaijan , gave a report on tolerance.

Kamran Seifullayev, the representative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Branch in Geneva and other international organizations, took part in the event.
