Cojep International (France) Azerbaijan Office held a zoom-online conference
Cojep International (France) Azerbaijan Office for Russia, Georgia and Central Asia held an online zoom conference on “The role of civil society in resolving regional conflicts.”
The conference was opened by Dudu Keles, Cojep International Coordinator at the United Nations (Geneva), who greeted the conference participants.
Nushaba Mammadova, head of the Cojep International Office for Russia, Georgia and Central Asia, said that the Cojep International Council for Justice, Equality and Peace was established in France in 1985 and is headquartered in Strasbourg, France. Cojep International has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the OECD and other influential international organizations, and is accredited by the European Parliament and the OSCE. Cojep International operates in 14 European countries, as well as in Asia, Africa and the United States.
Nushaba Mammadova said that regional conflicts are one of the biggest problems in the modern world. At present, there are more than 50 hotbeds of conflict in almost every part of the world. Millions of people have become refugees and internally displaced persons as a result of the destruction of settlements that have become battlegrounds in military conflicts. Currently, the number of refugees in the world as a result of regional conflicts has reached 80 million. She said that the role of civil society in resolving conflicts is undeniable. However, there are many conflicts in which public diplomacy remains ineffective. Then Nushaba Mammadova informed the participants about the results of Armenia’s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan over the past 30 years, the brilliant victory of Azerbaijan in this war under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the liberation of Azerbaijani lands. brought to the attention of conference participants.
Madina Ibrasheova, Deputy Head of the Partnership for Innovations Program, ARGO, Halil Bal, professor at Istanbul University in Turkey, George Tsobekhia, a member of the Georgian Bar Association, Daniyar Kasimov, a political commentator in Kazakhstan, and others spoke at the conference.
